I have been heavily invested in our NE community my whole life, and I am very proud to be a 3rd generation northeaster. My dad once told me it did me no good to sit back and complain if I wasn't willing to step up and make change happen. I am stepping up now. I want to go to City Hall everyday and stand up for the 1st ward. We deserve positive changes. We are a hard working, proud and dedicated community and it is time someone spoke up for us. Making northeast strong and viable is making the city of Minneapolis strong and viable. No nonesense, common sense approach-it is time to get back to the basics.

Safety

Larry Ranallo is President of the Northeast Police Advisory Committee (PAC). This an area of great passion for Larry. We have all heard the statistics, crime is down. However, that does not mean we can let our guard down. We need to remain strong and vigilant in the quest of keeping our kids, familes, and businesses safe. We cannot afford to lose one more firefighter or police officer to budget cuts.

Economic Development

Larry Ranallo is a proud business owner and is heavily invested in his local community.  Larry will work with community members, local groups and business owners to further the development of Northeast Minneapolis and grow jobs for its residents. Larry is one of the few candidates that comes from a business mind and recognizes the value of retaining our businesses. He understands the value of local industry which in turn means jobs and stability in our own community. The City needs to be willing to partner with current and interested business owners to make northeast a great place to own a business, and to work in.

Taxes

City taxes can not continue to rise.  We need to make smart investment choices to keep taxes low and ensure families keep as much of their income as possible. It is time to stop the new fees like the water run off, and the street light fees. Someone needs to step up and make these sideway taxes stop.

Schools

Northeast kids deserve a first class Education. Larry will work hard to promote the value of neighborhood schools and keeping our dollars in the classroom. Good schools help to promote a healthy and strong community, creating neighborhood and school pride. Everyone in our neighborhood should know when the Friday night football games are and come out to support our youth. We have a very proud and rich tradition of tommie pride, I want to see that not only continue but grow! Larry has also been an active member of both the Italian American Club and the NE Lions Club and has championed scholarship donations for northeast's hard working and dedicated youth to promote further education.

Parks

As a child, Larry Ranallo grew up in Northeast playing park league baseball.  The values of teamwork and dedication were strongly engrained in Larry at a young age. This is what you did as a kid, some of his best memories and friendships yet today are from those days. That is what ties you to your community. I want these ideals for my kids and for all kids in Northeast Minneapolis. Our parks are like jewels in the city and all kids should have the chance to participate in their youth programs. All families should feel proud and welcome in our parks.
As an adult, Larry has given back to the parks system by sponsoring teams, coaching his youth, women's and men's sports.  He even makes it down to play ball sometimes himself.
